Event Report, Part 2: EDU × ART Conference—A Future Where Robots Become Friends of the Heart

Participants often commented, “I felt that the robot’s facial expression is aligned with me,” and “I felt the ambiguous expression on the contrary to my heart.” There was also a voice saying, “The robot’s expression reminded me of the important people of childhood.” It is now clear that the robot touches people’s heart as a presence of more than a machine.
Robots that trigger to open the mind:
In the discussion, Prof. Ishiguro suggested, “The future that robots enter the home and play a role as a friend of mind is approaching,” “For example, if a single house and a robot that supports the mind are spreading, communication in the home may be enriched.” In addition, Mr. Miyauchi discussed the possibility that robots can be an interface to open their mind by looking back on his own experience, “I had a chance to reaffirm their humanity through dialogue with robots.”
Questionnaire:
In the post-event questionnaire, about 70% of participants responded that they felt more gentle by interacting with the robot, and this experience plays a role in touching the inner ministry and mind. Prof. Ishiguro said, “The ambiguous expression brings out theHuman of humans, and deep communication is born,” he hoped that robots could be a source of mind fromMachine machines.
