Testing Avataro, Digital Minister Taro Kono’s Avatar Robot with Shosa Implemented by KiQ
A demonstration experiment using the avatar robot by Taro Kawano, the Digital Agency that KiQ implemented the work. It is the world’s first avatar robot that can be operated remotely and can share the feelings like your body.
This initiative is a Moonshot R&D project led by Cabinet Office and promotes research by JST. We aim to realize avatar robots that can interact and act with hospitality rich and moral.
In the demonstration experiment, avatar robots interact with the people in the city, and verify the effects such as whether the ministers come and talk in front of you, or whether the word of the minister is easier to reach people. Mr. Kawano worked at the Board of Directors for about 15 minutes.
This project is conducted by Keihiro Miya、, Director of International Telecommunications Research Institute of Interaction Sciences, Inc. and Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro, Graduate School of Basic Engineering, Osaka University. Mr. Ishiguro, who is engaged in research and development of avatar using robots, is responsible for the design of KikuchiHome.

To implement the work on the avatar robot, it is not possible to copy the movement of Mr. Kawano as it is. It is because it is insufficient only to make the same work as the person.
The work that implements will acquire the usual behavior from the face-to-face counseling and lectures. There is a certain pattern in the movement of people, and it is an image thats the habit. In the case of Mr. Kawano, you can see the habits such as folding his hands when listening to the story, and the behavior that seems to be a politician from everyday life and birth. In addition, it is hard to see behind the reader, but I also captured the personality such as being able to interact with anyone with kindness.
The passion for implementing the work is to make a human-like “e human”. This enables avatar robots to co-e te through words.
This time, I don’t have a pose to pair my arms. The movement of the hand is because it is also reflected in the conservative movement that takes a personal space, while it is transmitted to the touch. I thought that it is better to think and remove it from the use purpose of the avatar robot.
